Privacy statement Great to Meet

Great to Meet B.V. sets great store by the protection of your privacy. Your personal data is handled with care and is properly secured. In this Privacy Statement, we explain how we handle and process personal data.

1 What personal data do we process?

The Great to Meet app may process various categories of personal data about you. This concerns the following categories of personal data:

i. your user profile;
ii. your notes;
iii. your locations data;
iv. your contacts;
v. data about your use of the app.

Below, we explain for each category exactly what personal data is processed and when.

(i.) User profile

When you create an account in the Great to Meet application, we store the data you provide upon registration in your user profile on our central server.
This concerns the following data:

  • personal information (name and photograph);
  • information about your work (position, company, company logo and sector);
  • a few words about yourself (biography);
  • a few words for other users (ice breaker);
  • business contact details (telephone number(s), email and address);
  • personal contact details (telephone number, email and address);
  • links to your social media accounts.

We might verify the accuracy of certain contact details (for example, your telephone number and email) before we store them in your user profile.

Depending on the situation, we make all or some of the data from your user profile visible to other users of the Great to Meet application. They may be (i) users in whoseproximity you have been, (ii) users who have your telephone number listed in their contacts, (iii) users to whom you are connected.

Please bear in mind that users to whom you are connected may authorise a third partyto access or share your data within the Great to Meet application.

The following table shows the situations in which we make some of the data from your user profile visible to other users of the Great to Meet application:

(ii.) Notes

If you make notes in the Great to Meet application about other users to whom you areconnected, we store these notes on our central server. Other users cannot see your notes.

(iii.) Your contacts

If you share the contacts on your mobile device with us, we check the telephone numbers in your contacts against the telephone numbers of other users of the Great to Meet application on our central server.

Before sending these telephone numbers to our central server, we pseudonymise the telephone numbers on your mobile device by means of a so-called hash and a salt. We do not send any contacts data to our server other than the pseudonymi- sed telephone numbers. After checking the pseudonymised telephone numbers against the telephone numbers of other users, we immediately delete them again.

If your contacts also use the Great to Meet application, you can send these persons aconnection request. You can send your other contacts an invitation to install the Great to Meet application.

(iv.) Your location data

If you share your location data with us, we temporarily store the location data of your mobile device on our central server. You can stop sharing your location data at any time (whether or not temporarily).

When you share your location data with us, we use this data to match you with users of the Great to Meet application who have been in your proximity.
If you have been in the proximity of another user, we will make some of your data visible to that user (see above).

We may also show ads from advertisers in the Great to Meet application that are relevant to you based on your location data. We do not provide your location data to advertisers.

(v.) Usage data

When you use the Great to Meet application, we store information about your use of the application and your mobile device on our central server.

2 Why do we process this personal data?

Generally speaking, we process your personal data in order to offer you good service. Below, we will explain this in more detail for each category of personal data.

(i.) User profile

We process the data in your user profile for various purposes:

i. to ensure that the data of the users of the Great to Meet application are complete and accurate;

ii. to offer other users of the Great to Meet application the option of sending you a connection request;

iii. to make your contact details available to other users of the Great to Meet application to whom you are connected.

These purposes are all related to the essence of our services: to enable you to easily exchange your contact details with people in whose proximity you have been. This processing is necessary for those purposes. Performance of the contract therefore provides the basis for processing the data in your user profile.

We may also use data from your user profile to show relevant ads from advertisers. In that case, consent provides the basis for processing the data in your user profile.

(ii.) Notes

You can make notes about connections as part of our services, which you can read again later. Performance of the contract therefore provides the basis for processing the data in your user profile.

(iii.) Your contacts

We process the telephone numbers of your mobile device contacts in order to enable you to send the contacts who also use the Great to Meet application a con- nection request.

Consent provides the basis for processing your contacts’ telephone numbers.

Legitimate interests provide us with the basis, to the extent that this processing involves the personal data of other persons, specifically in order to bring you into contact with other users of the Great to Meet application.

(iv.) Location data

We process the location data of your mobile device for the purpose of determining whether you have been in the proximity of any other users of the Great to Meet application. We may also use your location data to show relevant ads from advertisers.

Performance of the contract provides the basis for processing your location data. Consent provides the basis for the processing of your personal data in the context of showing relevant messages from advertisers.

(v.) Usage data

We process the data about your use of the Great to Meet application for the purpose of monitoring and improving the application and our services.

Our legitimate interests provide the basis for processing the usage data.

3 How long do we retain your data?

(i.) User profile

We retain the data in your user profile until you instruct us to delete your account in the Great to Meet application.

(ii). Notes

We retain your notes until you (i) delete your notes or (ii) instruct us to delete your account in the Great to Meet application.

(iii.) Your contacts

We only use the pseudonymised telephone numbers for as long as necessary to assess which of your contacts use the Great to Meet application. After that, we delete them automatically.

(iv.) Location data

We retain your location data for 24 hours. After that, we delete it automatically.

(v.) Usage data

We retain your usage data for a maximum of 14 months. After that, we delete it automatically.

4 With whom do we share your data?

In some cases, we engage other parties to perform some of our services on our behalf.In these cases, we will only share data if this is necessary for the performance of the services to be provided. We will always enter into a data processing agreement with these parties.

At present, we have engaged in any event: (i) Google Firebase for various functionalities in the Great to Meet application and (ii) Amazon Web Services for hosting the central server of the Great to Meet application.

Under no circumstances will we sell your personal data to third parties.

5 Do we process personal data outside the European Union?

We process personal data within the European Union as much as possible. We may engage a processor that provides IT services involving data processing from a country outside the European Union, including the United States. We will only do so in a manner consistent with the General Data Protection Regulation. For example, we have concluded in any event the standard data protection contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission with the aforementioned subprocessors.

6 What are your rights?

You have the right to access the personal data we process about you and to have it rectified or deleted.
You also have the right to withdraw your consent, if any, for the data processing, to object to our processing of your personal data, and to data portability. The latter means that you can send us a request to transmit the personal data in our possession in a computer file to you or to another organisation of your choice.

You can file a request for rectification and deletion of your personal data or
withdrawal of consent for a particular processing operation in the Great to Meet application.

You can send a request for access or transmission of your personal data or an objection to the processing of your personal data to info@greattomeet.com. We may ask you to show us proof of identity to avoid having someone else make such a request on your behalf.
